The Twelfth House Podcast - Healing Through Psychedelics and Psychiatry with Kalen Flynn, M.D.
Meet Kalen Flynn, a Holisticism Visionary in Residence alumni, multi-passionate physician, and resident psychiatry trainee who empowers patients to connect with their innate capacity for healing in a holistic, intuitive, and accessible way.
Kalen studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai and has spent months living in the Amazon with indigenous Shipibo healers who practice herbal medicine and ayahuasca ceremonies, learning about the incredible healing power of plants. In this episode, Kalen, Michelle, and Wallis discuss the modern mental health landscape, where the system is failing its patients, and how the intervention of psychedelic therapy may create a paradigm shift in our approach to healing.

Exploring the Food & Mood Connection: Nutrition for Mental Health w/ Kalen Flynn, M.D.
Past online event, sliding scale.
This workshop is an introduction to the emerging field of nutritional psychiatry. Often when we think of improving our mental health, the go-to options are (expensive!) therapy or medications. And while conventional treatment certainly works for some people, many people struggling with depression and anxiety are left without relief.
There is a growing body of evidence that supports using nutrition for mental health, and this workshop will dive deep into the new research. We'll talk about how what we eat can influence how we feel, and explore concepts like the gut-brain connection, inflammation, the microbiome, and why we get hangry (& how this is relevant for those with anxiety). Whether you're already on psychiatric medications or you're just curious about what you can do now to prevent mental health issues down the line, this workshop will empower you with understanding and practical ways to use nutrition to improve your mental health. -
Psychedelics, Identity and Archetypes w/ Kalen Flynn, M.D.
Virtual workshop for private membership community.
Psychedelics can be powerful tools for personal transformation and exploring identity. This workshop will trace the history of psychedelic medicine from its roots in indigenous cultures to the current research aiming to make MDMA and psilocybin prescription medicines. We'll dive deep into the science of how psychedelics affect the brain, including how they can increase neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to change and grow) and have lasting effects on personality. We’ll talk about intention setting and how to use archetypes to guide transformational work.
